Hindi serials for thought!

Numbly, I left work at 5pm. I opened my purse, and reached for my GTA weekly pass, flashing it in front of the TTC collector to enter the subway. Exhausted, I come out only to enter the bus now. It is almost 6pm. I perk up at the sight of my house. Entering in, I hoist my purse on a chair, and rush in to tackle the kitchen. Food is uppermost on my mind right now. Ah! Yummy potato curry and rotis are getting done.
Sitting on my plush leather sofa, I reach out for that forbidden black magical box that will open a pandora of thoughts for me.
"Oh my god!!! Could you please switch that TV off? How can you tolerate those saas-bahu serials??!!!" Sounds familiar? If yours is a typical Indian household then this is an oft repeated dialogues heard from children to their parents/ grand parents.
I have to admit that I lovvvveeeee to watch those serials. Their creativity is amazing. Their imagination is boundless. I am hooked! Everytime I watch those serials I feel I am soaking in the rain with an ice cream in hand, the taste lingering with happiness. My thoughts unwhirl seeing the debris of loved relationships and understanding why people behave the way they do. The style statements made by each character, and the way they represent the world is worth thinking about. This is a perfect time to reflect on life and my values and goals and putting first things first. It gives me food for thought for my blog entries!!
My current favourite is Hamari betiyoon ka vivaah running on Zee Tv. It is about a mother's anxiety about finding the dream sons' in law for her four daughters. She is keen to see her daughters getting married into affluent families. And I am curious as to why is the mother after the 2nd daughter while the 1st one is unmarried, and very much eligible.
